DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES BY
SIR STANLEY W. RAWSON, M.A.,
Vice-Chairman of John Brown and Co., Ltd.
In 1903 Professor Michael Sadler of the University of Manchester made a report to the Education Committee of Sheffield in which, among other suggestions, he recommended the amalgamation of the Royal Grammar School and Wesley College. This was acted on and the resulting School—King Edward VII School—opened in temporary premises in Leopold Street in September 1905 and finally moved to the present building in September 1906. The School has therefore been in existence for fifty years now, and this is its fiftieth year in the old Wesley College building.
