Ken Kaye (KES 1931-37) passed away on 6 September 2006.
School magazines reveal that he won the Style Swimming, Open (Vol IX, July 37) and his war record is summarised as KAYE, K. (1931-37), Lt., R.N.V.R. in the KES magazine of March, 1944.
My late father in law, Kenneth (Ken) Kaye was born on 2 August 1920, and died on 6 September 2006.
Upon leaving school in 1937 he joined Barclays Bank. He served as a naval officer during the Second World War and commanded landing craft in the North Africa, Sicily and Italian campaigns. He was awarded a "Mention in Despatches" after participating in the invasion of southern France.
After the war he rejoined Barclays Bank. His final position was as manager of Barclays Glossop Road, Sheffield branch. Ken was active in Barclays' pensioner association and in continuing association with his former naval colleagues.
He had also been Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Bankers for the Sheffield Centre. In retirement he was much involved with helping the Sheffield Scout Group, particularly on matters of finance.
Ken was married with 2 daughters.
