Robert (Bob) Walter BRAY DFC and Bar Born May 1921 at KES 1930-37. In Junior School left after School Cert.
Joined RAF 1940. Flew 94 Ops in total from 1941-45
Joined No. 75 (NZ) squadron flying Wellingtons in 1941-42 for First Tour. Awarded DFC.
2nd Tour 1943-44 with No.105 Squadron, a Pathfinder squadron flying Mosquitos. Marking targets all over Germany, inc many Ops to Ruhr and Berlin. Also in action on D-day over Normandy and later against V1 sites.
3rd Tour 1944-45 commanded No. 571 (Mosquito) squadron with rank of Wing Commander at 23 years of age. Awarded 2nd DFC
Left RAF in 1945 to run family business Bray Brothers the Sheffield Men's Outfitters.
